KIT-CATS (Krieger ITClassroom Audiovisual Technology Services) team supports a large variety of technology-enhanced general pool classrooms and computer classrooms that give faculty, staff and students convenient access to up to date IT resources and an enhanced academic experience throughout the Homewood Campus. CATS provides:

  • Audiovisual event support
  • Training on the use of classroom equipment
  • Lecture capture support
  • Videoconferencing and related technologies
  • General consulting for upgrades/installation of audiovisual equipment

Under the supervision of the IT Manager Classroom Tech, this position is responsible for providing technical and operational support for the field of multimedia (presentation, recording, distribution, digital media, and video conferencing) on the Homewood Campus. Being mentored by the Sr Systems Administrator, this position will be responsible for set up, support, and operation of all classroom instructional technology equipment. Occasional nights and weekend hours will be required.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

Classroom Instructional Technology Support

  • Respond and resolve classroom technology related calls.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on classroom equipment.
  • Set up requested multimedia equipment for classes.
  • Provide instructions to faculty, staff, students, and visiting lecturers on equipment operation in the classrooms.

Support Multimedia Equipment

  • Maintain, upgrade, and repair digital/analog audiovisual systems for all general pooled classrooms and other CATS managed spaces.
  • Keep track of multimedia equipment life cycle and replace when needed.

System Installation

  • Install digital audiovisual systems for all general pooled classrooms when needed according to the equipment’s lifecycle.
  • Maintain, upgrade, repair, and install AV/Multimedia equipment for departmental and conference rooms by request.

Event AV Support

  • Deliver, set up, and operate A/V equipment for events on the Homewood campus.
  • Properly check out and check in equipment.
  • Meet with customers prior to the events to provide instructions and perform a test run.
